Wanderlust 2024

Teachers' Line-up

Kasia Avery - Host

Capturing the moment and sensations is everything to me - my language is art. I paint, collage and art journal to figure out my past, my present and future. I scribble, spill, tear, paint and write to let the emotions out. I ask questions and work out my answers through colour, texture, patterns and dynamic connections between contradictions. My work is a perfect reflection of my everyday reality - the colours and subjects reveal the connections that I make between my past and now.

I have taught mixed-media in-person and online since 2011 and everyday I'm grateful for this opportunity to have my dream job. I run Everything Art Ltd together with my husband Jamie.

Nicole Warrington

I’m an artist and educator on Vancouver Island on Canada’s West Coast. I create art journals and paintings in watercolour and mixed media. My art is deeply inspired by my connection to the landscape and natural world; flora, fauna, colours, textures and sounds of the beautiful temperate rainforest and coastlines are featured in my artwork. I’m passionate about using my creativity as practice in mindfulness and self-care. I love teaching art workshops in my community and classes online. I also enjoy hiking, yoga, meditation, skiing, and exploring the local forests, mountains and beaches with my husband and two daughters.

Iris Fritschi-Cussens

Hi, I’m Iris! I’m a Dutch mixed media artist, teacher, vlogger & podcaster based in London, UK. I’m passionate about art and art journaling for self-expression and self-discovery. My art style is raw and colourful and in it I try to express my feelings. My hope is that others will see, share and feel understood in the emotions that I express in my paintings.

Online I love to share my art, outlook and creative life through pictures, writing & vlogs. I co-host a podcast called (NOT) A Real Artist. It’s important to me to share real life, not just a polished ‘social media version’, so apart from the happy times I also address the harder feelings and struggles like creative block and perfectionism. I really hope that authentically sharing my creative life will inspire YOU to be creative and make more art!

Leaca Young

I am an artist living in Alaska. I am very inspired by the life and nature that surrounds me, with a vintage and sometimes whimsical touch. Vintage papers are in most of my creations. I find it healing to connect to the past and see the future in our art. I mostly work with watercolor and acrylic but dabble in other mediums. Tiny bits of paper that can seem insignificant and glue sticks are what make my heart happy.

Casey Turner

I’m a born creative, dreaming since childhood to be an art teacher. I discovered mixed media and art journaling a few short years ago during a hard time in life. I’ve loved it ever since. I live in Pennsylvania with my husband of 21 years and I’m a mother of five from adults to a toddler and recently became a grandmother. After being a stay-at-home-mom for many years, I was a coordinator for international students but left my job when my youngest child was born. I love art journaling as it allows me a safe place to express myself and release feelings in a therapeutic and relaxing way. My heart’s desire is to share this form of creativity with others while being my authentic self, sharing my mistakes and flaws to encourage others to get rid of self doubt and comparing themselves and their art to others.

Francesca Radice

Hello, I’m Francesca Radice from Junk Journal Joy, a junk journal enthusiast, and a creator. I’m Italian and I love creating handmade journals with vintage things mixed with recycled or new modern objects. My background is in Psychology, so I like practicing creativity as a mindful activity.

For me, the creative process doesn’t always have to be meaningful. When you create just to create, and you go with the flow, it becomes a way to meditate and to find your inner peace. Sometimes the meaning of it will emerge only with time. Making journals and journaling is a powerful tool to reveal our stories and I’m glad to be able to give a contribution to spreading the voice.

I love to share junk journal tutorials from start to finish, quick craft projects on a budget, how to turn junk into something elegant and beautiful, precious and timeless handmade books flip through, tips and tricks to help you express your voice through creativity, and have fun!

I’m Vicky Papaioannou and I live in Greece. I work as a content creator and independent craft designer sharing mixed media, art journal and paper crafting tutorials. I am also designing dies with Spellbinders and I have my own range of collections with Stamperia called "create happiness".

For years I worked as a full time high school teacher. But I have always loved anything crafty from painting, crafting to even jewelry making and pottery. When I discovered art journaling I was hooked for good.

My Youtube & Instagram channels have been a great success over the years with a growing number of followers and that really helped me switch from a full time high school teacher into a full time designer and mixed media artist. I am finally doing what I love most, sharing my art with fellow crafters and teaching workshops around the world.

Eugénie Billote

I’m Eugénie aka SupermamaDesVosges and I’m a French maker. I thought for a long time that creative arts were not made for me. Full time job, family life with 4 children, daily routine: no way! But then curiosity overcame all other concerns and I started sewing, carving stamps, watercolor, acrylic, ... And I studied. I took online courses. A lot! And finally I ended up using and mixing all this new knowledge in a journal, MY "art journal". And now, I teach, in French and also in English : what an exciting challenge ! But you too are an artist : being an artist is not about being gifted, it's about willing to try, to have fun, to improve. I invite you to join me in a creative adventure where the only limit is your curiosity. Explore, learn, share, and let yourself be inspired!

Clare Etheridge

I moved to St Louis, Missouri 20 years ago from Lincoln (UK) where I grew up. In the late 80’s I went to Lincoln Art college, then Nottingham Trent to study fashion design.

Now, I enjoy my work as a part time librarian as I get to read and order upcoming books. I love keeping up my art practice almost every day. I like to sketch while out and about, always trying to improve my drawing techniques and I also like to work in a more abstract and imaginative way in my art journals which I usually handmake.

The power of nature and getting out for a walk in the woods is something I firmly believe in, no matter how small your woods are or how short the walk is.

My favourite art supplies are ink water and a stick and my favourite art journal inspiration is vintage photos.

Jane Chipp

I am a textile, collage, assemblage and book artist and I work mainly with found objects, old papers and photographs. I’m never happier than when I’m wandering around a flea market, picking up bits of ephemera and working out how to use them in my art.

I like to create stories from old photographs and papers, often combining them with household or natural objects to create very personal artworks. Working with old photographs can be incredibly therapeutic; the person in the photograph becoming a conduit for your thoughts or feelings. In 2021, I co-wrote ‘Artful Memories; how to make unique art with old photographs.’

My courses are about sharing techniques and structures for students to explore their own stories, true or imagined, through the use of found materials and photographs.

Jeanne Oliver

I grew up in rural Illinois and now reside in Castle Rock, CO. I am inspired by our personal stories, travel, and nature.

I use art to tell my current stories and also those of growing up among gravel roads, cornfields and early life surrounded by open spaces. Through mark making, layers and mixed media, I hope to convey that we all have a story to tell.

I was told that I needed to find that one thing but I don't like listening to directions so I embrace many loves and that has given me a sweet mash-up of family, art, and travel. Connecting with women and sharing that each of us has been creatively made is one of my passions.

I began my creative journey in my early teen years. I engaged in a lot of journaling and drawing because I had no outlet or safe place to reveal that I was sexually abused. Being creative was an escape for me--an opportunity to see myself in a better place. I found that this was a therapeutic way to release stress and give a visual voice to my darkest secret. I am now the Confident Canvas God called me to be--a masterpiece!

Since starting my brand, Confident Canvas, I have created, taught classes internationally and co-authored a book to support others in finding their own creative voice. I am skilled at bible journaling, mixed media, hand lettering, journaling, drawing, painting and more! I work with many creative brands and platforms.

Melissa Fink

I am Melissa Fink, a painter living in Western New York, creating in my home studio in our old 1870s farmhouse. I enjoy a good cup of coffee, value deep conversation, and feel alive when I have a brush in my hand. Most days you can find me doing life with my husband Jesse and with our four young children.

I believe beauty has great power to kindle hope. I am deeply inspired by nature and am often reminded that in spite of all that can go wrong in the world, some things can go so right. Nature is evidence of this reality – that beauty can emerge from barren places and broken things can be made new. This is why I paint and why nature deeply inspires me.

My work is an invitation to see beauty in the unfolding moments of life, to offer a glimpse of hope and joy.

Arlyna Blanchard

A proud lifelong mixed-media artist and documenter. I was drawing a lot of Wonder Woman in kindergarten and from there on had never thought of doing anything else that’s not related to art. My path took me to a degree in Fine Arts, studying Chinese in Taiwan, to studying Chinese painting in Tianjin, China. I fell in love with this country’s history and culture, inspiring my personal artworks even today.

It’s my passion to document because I love to capture the little cherished moments of my family (my hundreds of journals will attest to that). On the other hand, my paintbrush is also a way to navigate the world and train myself to see things from different perspectives… appreciating life as it fleets.

Aside from being a hands-on mum to my teen fraternal twins, I’m a full-time graphic designer and entrepreneur, running my own design firm in Shanghai.

Lisa Goddard

Hi there, I’m Lisa. I am a mixed media artist and tutor living on the edge of the Peak District national park with my husband and two daughters. I'm passionate about art journaling and bookmaking. I started journaling around twenty years ago after I had completed a fine art degree and was feeling a bit lost and directionless. Art journaling became a space for me to express myself, process my emotions, experiment and play. For me it is now an essential part of my life, a place to create stories and tell my own. I work predominantly with mixed media. I love the freedom of not being restricted in what I use and there are always new exciting combinations to discover. I like to work in my grungy fashion with paper, fabric, paint and coffee. I combine acrylics with inks, drawing, collage and whatever else I find lying around the house!
