Meet your Art Stories Teachers

These super talented teachers teamed up to create Art Stories for you.

Finnabair, Mystele Kirkeeng, Nicole Warrington & Cat Kerr. These accomplished artists share their engaging content, projects, stories, unique styles and wonderful personalities.

Here's what's included in Art Stories:

Let's Begin at Home...

The amazing Finnabair will start us off by treating us with a lesson on home. She tells us the story of moving into a new home and inspiring us to collect and create stories of places where we live. Finnabair will show us step-by-step how she created this charming old-fashioned character study of her house, even incorporating parts of the house! This mixed-media project is full of dimension and texture.

Mystele...

... shares with us what home means to her, centred around the people you grow to love. In this session she inspires us to make art about being a home for others. Mystele teaches us how layering can make art easier and the final outcome more characterful.

Nicole...

... takes us for a walk in the beautiful mountains where she lives. She shares how this both grounds and inspires her. Before teaching us how to make a gorgeous collaged wall-hanging that is inspired by the scenery around our home.

Cat...

... shares with us some childhood memories that she associates with home. She then will teach us how to build our own 3D house with craft plastic as an emblem to what we consider home to be.

Then, we'll move onto Books...

Mystele...

... talks all about intuitive art practice and why she chooses to create in this way. She's shows in detail how she made the piece "Stories Connect Us" using a cardboard base and layers of mixed media.

Nicole...

... gives some great advice on mini watercolour paintings, as she shows us how to paint a landscape to gift to a free outdoor library (or any library)!

Cat...

... changes our perspective on what a book can be! She will teach us how to find the potential in any old thing through transforming both an old phone case and a wooden bobbin into an accordion book and a scroll, adorned in her favourite mixed media techniques.

And Finally, Let's Have Some Fun with Junk!

Mystele...

... is artistically interested in birds at the moment, and lets us witness how she finds such beautiful animals in old scraps of rubbish! This mixed-media collage project is the essence of Mystele's freeing style of art.

Nicole...

... will teach us how to make landscape postcards. She does this through the mindful process of turning junk and chaos into order and beauty. She also shares a lovely anecdote on how she got into making art from junk at a young age.

Cat...

... shares some great tips on the principles of design - how to create a balanced composition between elements of... yes, junk! By the end of this you may become a fellow junker, knowing how to make objects "that have no business being together" work harmoniously.
