In 2016, we launched our very first year-long online course in mixed-media art called Wanderlust.

It was a momentous year filled with creativity, learning, and exploration.

After years of building a Wanderlust community of people who love mixed media art journalling, we decided it was cruel to keep old Wanderlust videos hidden away so brought out a Best of Wanderlust 2016 bundle.

Today, we are excited to present Best of Wanderlust 2017, a specially curated bundle of videos bringing back some of the favourite lessons from 2017.

What is Best of Wanderlust 2017?

What to look forward to:

Building something Beautiful out of the Ordinary

Rae Missigman will be showing you how to make your own art journal out of old office and craft supplies. You can use this for any journals entries; Rae shows you how to add simple colours and markings to avoid opening up to a blank page - your pages will inspire you!

Rae is known for her bold use of colour. Her art reflects her belief that creativity doesn’t need to be complicated or time-consuming—it’s something you can weave into the busiest days in small steps.

Be Brave, and Dreamer

In Be Brave, Marta Lapowska gives some tips on creating texture that you probably haven't heard before. She'll show you how to create a piece that feels warm and vintage, and tips on both highlighting your focal point and making it feel connected to the background in this beautiful two page spread. In Dreamer, Marta shows us what she does when she has leftover materials that inspire her.

Marta's work is diverse and she loves to experiment, push boundaries and explore new ways to express her vision through art.

Patchwork Playtime

Switching things up a little, Kate Crane shows how to create a wallpaper of many art pieces, rather than one with a focal point. Don't be intimidated! The process is fun and incredibly soothing. We get another bonus lesson here as Kate shows us more tiling, this time my favourite thing is how she shows us how to layer contrasting colours without muddying them.

With years of experience designing rubber stamps, art printing plates, and stencils, Kate is currently a Signature Designer for Paper Artsy. During the pandemic, she switched to online teaching, offering live classes and video tutorials for platforms like Gel Press and Grafix Arts.

Just Fly Away

We get the unusual joy of watching Vicky Papaioannou make this gorgeous page in real time, showing how with some good advice and little secrets, you can very easily create your own little garden like this, with bold, inspirational, lettering.

Through her passion for mixed media art, Vicky has built a thriving YouTube channel where she showcases her gorgeous card making and art journalling. The channels success over the years has allowed her to transition from a full-time high school teacher to pursuing her dream career as an independent artist. She can now dedicate all her time to creativity, teaching workshops around the world.

Cover to Cover

Time to get the tools out! John Creighton-Peterson gives us a beginner friendly guide here on how to make a 3 dimensional ornament out of a book. There will be many techniques to try: How to use resin, how to about and colour your 3D collage, work with textured fabric backgrounds, make and use texture paste, make faux glass baubles and paper clay embellishments.

John's life changed when he discovered New Wave music. He's let this influence his art by basing it on the sense of freedom that the New Wave subculture gave him. When asked what style he'd call his art, he says mixed media fusion. This should give an idea of how varied and free his work is!

Bloom & Grow

Join Jo Firth-Young as she brings her playful, “a little bit of this, a little bit of that” approach to art, encouraging us to gather our favourite tools and materials and create a beautiful floral scene together. It’s all about blooming, growing, and following our artistic dreams.

Jo’s creative journey began with a love of cross-stitch, which she studied formally before diving deeper into the arts. As the first ever designer for PaperArtsy, she’s now created over 100 stamp sets and continues to inspire with her joyful, mixed-media style.

FAQs

How long will I have access to this course?

Lifetime access! Return to the videos any time, as many times as you'd like. Hooray!

Can I use my smartphone to watch the lessons?

Yes! Our website and classrooms work very well on tablets and smartphones.

What is your refund policy?

We would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us in the first 14 days and we will give you a full refund.

Is this content available anywhere else?

These videos were originally created for Wanderlust 2017. At that point we were based on a different platform, which doesn't exist anymore. These lessons are not available anywhere else and this is the only way to access them.

Why is there tax added on top of the price?

As tax rates vary all over the world, adding tax on top of the price is the only way we can continue to offer our classes on sale globally.

This has been further complicated by Brexit, and international clamp downs on online tax collection.

Sales tax is worked out and added to the cart if applicable on a country by country basis.
