A taste of what you'll create
49 lessons spanning brushwork, texture, printmaking, drawing, writing, and alternative techniques — each one a doorway into mastering a new skill.
What is the Technique Edition?
The Technique Edition is Wanderlust's deep dive into skills and methods. While every edition of Wanderlust has its own theme, this one is all about Hero Techniques — the signature skills that each teacher is best known for.
Every single lesson is built around one Hero Technique — the core skill or approach that makes that artist's work distinctive. This means you're never overwhelmed. You focus on one powerful technique at a time, explore it fully, and carry it forward into your growing practice.
These 49 Hero Techniques are organised across 6 Star Themes — Brushes & Tools, Texture, Writing, Printmaking, Drawing, and Alternatives — giving you a comprehensive creative education that covers every corner of art journaling.
This is art journaling with purpose. This is technique mastery. This is Wanderlust: Technique Edition.
Six Star Themes, one complete creative toolkit
Previously known as Wanderlust 2024, this edition has been renamed to reflect its timeless focus on technique mastery. Same incredible course, same 32 guest teachers — just a name that better captures what it’s really about.
Each Star Theme groups lessons by the type of technique you'll master. Together, the six themes give you a complete creative education in art journaling.
Brushes & Tools
Master the instruments of mark-making — from unexpected brush techniques to creative tool use that transforms your pages.
Texture
Build rich, tactile surfaces through layering, pastes, fabrics, and dimensional techniques that bring your journal to life.
Writing
Integrate words, lettering, and text into your art — from expressive handwriting to creative typography and journaling prompts.
Printmaking
Explore gel plate printing, stamping, mono-printing, and transfer techniques that add repeatable magic to your pages.
Drawing
Develop your drawing confidence through mark-making, sketching, illustration, and line work — from abstract to representational.
Alternatives
Go beyond the expected — unconventional materials, surprising methods, and experimental approaches that push creative boundaries.
“Wanderlust has made me so love working in the art journal. Learning so many different things from so many different artists is truly, truly amazing.”
“Wanderlust has become a vital virtual safe space for my art and creative practice.”
“Not only has Wanderlust improved my art practice, it also improves my mental health.”
Kasia Avery
The course is led by its founder — Kasia Avery. A mixed-media artist, teacher, and the creator of Everything Art, Kasia has been building and hosting Wanderlust for over 10 years, guiding thousands of students through their creative journeys.
Before Everything Art moved online, Kasia spent years teaching in person — running workshops, retreats, and creative gatherings where she learned first-hand what helps people find confidence in their art. That hands-on experience shapes every part of Wanderlust, from the way lessons are structured to the warmth and encouragement woven through each theme.
In the Technique Edition, Kasia hosts 7 lessons of her own alongside her role guiding you through all six Star Themes — introducing each teacher, setting the creative tone, and helping you build a toolkit of techniques that is uniquely yours.
