About Kasia

Artist, teacher, and the person behind Everything Art

I believe creativity lives in all of us — it just needs permission, a little guidance, and a space where there are no wrong answers.

Kasia Avery — artist and founder of Everything Art

My name is Kasia. I was born in Poland, built a life in the English countryside, and ended up exactly where I always knew I’d be — teaching. I just didn’t know it would look like this.

Even as a child, playing on my own, I would set up an imaginary classroom and teach whoever I decided was sitting there. I was six years old and already convinced I had things worth saying to a room. Decades later, I still believe that — though I’ll admit the six-year-old version of me had considerably less self-doubt about it.

I began by teaching in person — groups of women coming together to learn mixed media, art journaling, and scrapbooking. I learned as much as I taught in those rooms. Eventually I moved online, and somehow that room grew to tens of thousands of people. That part I’m still quietly astonished by.

Why I create

I don’t make art just to fill a canvas or a journal. I make it because a blank page is a conversation waiting to happen — between what you feel and what you can’t quite say yet.

I’m a meaning-seeker, a metaphor person, someone who finds inspiration in the most ordinary places and is always, always looking forward.

A few other things worth knowing

  • I can only do one thing at a time. One thing, fully — that’s where the good stuff is.
  • I’m a natural learner who dives deep into subjects with possibly unreasonable intensity. I currently possess extensive knowledge about cucumber varieties that will never grow in my garden.
  • I live with my husband Jamie, our two young daughters, and three dogs of devoted loyalty.

Where it all began

Before Everything Art moved online, it started in real rooms with real people — paint on hands, laughter in the air, and the kind of connection that only happens when you create together.

Creativity lives in all of us

I see it every day — in my daughters picking up paintbrushes in the garden, in students who swore they couldn’t draw discovering they had something extraordinary to say.

Creativity isn’t a talent you either have or don’t. It’s a direction you keep choosing. It doesn’t ask for permission or perfection. It just asks you to show up.

Everything Art exists because I wanted to share that conviction with people who were ready to hear it — and to walk some of that road together.

PHILOSOPHY

What I believe about art

Creativity is a practice, not a talent

Everyone can create. It’s not about being gifted — it’s about showing up, experimenting, and letting yourself play.

Imperfection is where the magic lives

The happy accidents, the wobbly lines, the unexpected colours — that’s where your art becomes truly yours.

Art should make you feel alive

It’s not about perfection or impressing others. It’s about connection — with yourself, with the world, with what makes you feel something.

Kasia teaches creativity, art journaling, portraiture, and mixed media through Everything Art. She is also the author of Creative Wanderlust and sends handwritten illustrated letters to her subscribers when the words find their way to her — which, thankfully, they often do.
