Best of Wanderlust 2017
Six mixed-media tutorials to fill your journals with wonder
Taught by Rae Missigman, Marta Lapkowska, Kate Crane, Vicky Papaioannou, John Creighton-Peterson & Jo Firth-Young
The journal is open. But the page is still blank.
You have the paints, the inks, the stamps — probably a shelf of art books you've been meaning to work through. But somehow the blank page keeps winning. The supplies wait, the ideas stay in your head, and another week passes without your hands touching paper.
Best of Wanderlust 2017 is six mixed-media video tutorials from six extraordinary artists who will sit beside you — and gently show your hands what to do. Old books become art journals. Leftover materials become texture. A blank page becomes a garden, a patchwork, a three-dimensional sculpture made from nothing but paper and courage.
These lessons were originally created for Wanderlust 2017, loved by thousands of artists worldwide. They’re no longer available anywhere else — and they’ve been waiting for you.
A taste of what you'll create
Beautiful from Ordinary
Rae Missigman turns old office supplies into a hand-built art journal filled with colour and mark-making.
Be Brave
Marta Lapkowska layers texture and warmth into a gorgeous vintage two-page spread that feels alive.
Patchwork Playtime
Kate Crane creates a wallpaper of many art pieces — tiled, layered, and impossibly soothing to make.
Does any of this sound familiar?
- You have old books and magazines you want to transform but don't know where to start
- You love art journaling in theory but feel stuck every time you open to a fresh page
- You watch artists layer paint and paper and think "how do they make it look so effortless?"
- You crave a project that feels meditative and freeing, not pressured and perfect
- You want to try mixed media but worry about wasting materials on something that might not work out
- You need a creative spark — a teacher who will show you that messy, imperfect art is the most honest art there is
Six mixed-media journeys
Each lesson comes with multi-part video tutorials, a printable supply list, and a downloadable handout so you can work at your own pace.
Building Something Beautiful out of the Ordinary
Make your own art journal from old office and craft supplies. Four parts of bold colour, mark-making, and the joy of transforming the ordinary into something personal.
Be Brave & The Dreamer
Two lessons in one: create a warm, vintage two-page spread with surprising texture techniques, then discover what to do when leftover materials start calling to you.
Patchwork Playtime
Create a wallpaper of many tiled art pieces rather than one with a focal point. A soothing process with a bonus lesson on layering contrasting colours without muddying them.
Just Fly Away
Watch Vicky create a gorgeous garden page in real time, sharing the little secrets that make bold, inspirational lettering and layered greenery look effortless.
Cover to Cover
A beginner-friendly guide to making a 3D ornament out of a book. Resin, textured fabric, paper clay embellishments — this one will surprise you.
Bloom & Grow
Gather your favourite tools and materials for a playful floral scene. Jo's "a little bit of this, a little bit of that" approach will have you blooming with confidence.
